The Second Forklift Skills Competition in Shaoguan City (BYD Cup)
After nearly a week of competition, the second Shaoguan Forklift Skills Competition (BYD Cup) was successfully concluded on November 6, 2022 at Shaoguan BYD Industrial Co., Ltd. This competition is hosted by the Municipal Market Supervision Bureau, Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, and Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security. It is organized by the Municipal Special Equipment Association, Shaoguan BYD Industrial Co., Ltd., and Shaoguan Testing Institute. A total of 60 contestants from 29 enterprises have successfully advanced to the finals. Among them, Guangdong Laya New Chemical Technology Co., Ltd., led by Fu Jinan from the Department of Safety, Health and Environment, organized three participating representatives to enter the finals and compete with various heroes on the same stage!
Preliminary stage
The theoretical selection competition in the preliminary stage is developed by experts and is strictly based on the professional skills standards of Level 3/Senior Workers for lifting and unloading machinery operators (forklift drivers). After nearly a hundred contestants competed fiercely, three representatives from Laya stood out and passed the rigorous theoretical selection competition, successfully advancing to the finals.
Final stage
There are two competition events in this final, "Pearl of the Palm" and "Forklift Code Plate". The theoretical defense score accounts for 20% and the actual operation score accounts for 80%. The defense section mainly tests the theoretical knowledge reserve and psychological quality of the contestants, while the practical operation section mainly tests their basic skills, operational proficiency, and accuracy.
Pearl on the palm
In the "Pearl in the Palm" project, contestants need to pick up three water bags tied with thin ropes using their forks within 5 minutes, and then place the water bags on the corresponding plastic bottle mouths. Holding the water bags at the bottle mouths for 3 seconds is considered a success code.
Forklift pallets
Contestants are required to dismantle the pallets stacked on the ground within 8 minutes and transport them to a designated location 4 meters away, neatly stacking 5 pallets.
In the competition, the contestants from Laya skillfully drove forklifts, with flexible and versatile movements, fully demonstrating the skilled and superb craftsmanship of forklift operators.

After intense competition, Li Changlu, Xu Yongjin, and Cen Xihua, led by Fu Jinan from the Health and Environment Department of Laya, represented the company and won the Excellent Organization Award in this competition. Among them, Li Changlu and Xu Yongjin won the Excellence Award, Cen Xihua won the first prize, and was awarded the honorary titles of "Shaoguan Employee Economic and Technological Innovation Expert" and "Shaoguan Technical Expert".
